Press releases are terrible, which is why I'm writing one now. To remind myself just how terrible they are. The lowest form of writing. Lower even than FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
"Fans drill Ovie Mughelli with nickname ideas"
Atlanta, Georgia, September 30
Atlanta Falcons fullback Ovie Mughelli last night announced the winner of his Yardbarker.com nickname contest. Ovie will henceforth be known as "The Drill," which was a nickname suggested by Yardbarker.com user BlueWorkhorse. BlueWorkhorse suggested the name because, "when you use a drill it creates a hole."
Ovie announced the winner by posting a comment on his blog. He first narrowed it down to five finalists before announcing the winner. Ovie was active throughout the contest, responding to fan comments and narrowing it down to five finalists before choosing the eventual winner. Ovie's finalists included The Mauler, The Mugger, Mean Mug, Mug-Boat and O-Hop. Interestingly, "The Drill" was not one of the five finalists.
About the contest, Ovie said [sic]:
"I want to thank everyone for all of the wonderful entries. I had a great time and a lot of laughs reading through all entries. The running up was The Mug Boat, it was my moms favorite but its more funny than cool. i had a great time yall with this contest...see u on the next blog."Ovie launched the contest on Yardbarker.com after his appearance at this year's ESPY Awards, which were held in Los Angeles. Cleveland Browns wide receiver Braylon Edwards made fun of Ovie for not having any nicknames. Braylon has about eleventy-billion nicknames. Now Ovie has his first. The Drill.
Ovie Mughelli has been an active member of the Yardbarker community and verified athlete blogger since March 13, 2008.

If only MLB used the same type of system for the playoffs, 'cause then my beloved Mariners could win the 2008 World Series.
That would work for O's fans as well. I'd be totally cool with that arrangement.
Ditto for the A's. Let's put together a proposal for MLB.
